Lighting Moment, Week 5-Cat, 360

This week I was sitting in class and my professor pulled a screen down that covers a rectangular window. The sun was shining at the perfect angle to light up a rectangle on the screen. The really beautiful part was that there was a tree in between the sunlight and window so the pattern of the two or three tree branches were perfectly silhouetted framed in a rectangle against the screen. It looked like a simple Japanese wall hanging; it was beautiful.

To recreate this I would probably just use a projector. However, to figure this out with lights, I think that I would have two options. The first one would be to use a cut out pattern and stick it directly behind the cyc. It wouldn't be exactly the same as it was in the classroom, but it would be close. That probably wouldn't show up very clearly. Option two would be to use a gobo that was cut exactly to that image in a rectangular frame included tilt it upstage to hit the cyc. Option two is probably better.
