Today as I was studying in the carols at the music library I noticed a very satisfying play of light against the wall. Sections of the cieling are pulled down lower, and in the higher sections are electric light. As the light spills from the higher sections, it is confronted by the right angles where the lower sections mee the walls and sharply angles out. Underneath the lower sections of the cieling, a triangular shadow is created that is framed by the light from the higher sections.
To achieve this effect, I could have obstructions hanging between the lights on the grid. A white backdrop could serve as the wall onto which the geometric patterns created by the light and shadow could be reflected.
