Black Dance and White audience
I think that before one can try to define what black dance and white dance is; one has to define dance. What is dance? Dance can be a series of movements that is performed and it is also self expression, an art. However, the white critics on the black dancers are not on their dance, regardless of their dance forms, it is based on through the white critic's limited knowledge and misconception of black culture. Therefore, much of the discrimination exists and black dancers such as Alvin Ailey are not given as much respect as he deserves compared to other white choreographers and dancers. The distinction of black dancing lacking white aesthetics is unfair because black dance has its own aesthetics. White aesthetic is not the prime and ideal one. Regardless, of trying to judge the black dancers through the white perspective, the white critic should expand their knowledge on the history of black dance and see the new fusion of dances. No dance is in its original form since, black and white dances have fused over the years in the social sphere as well as been accepted. It is by time, the white audience understand this and stop the discrimination.
